The story
Set within the leafy Winzerpark in Allschwil, just outside Basel, Villa Winzerpark occupies a carefully restored villa whose original character has been preserved. The restaurant, bar, lounge and terrace are arranged across a garden room, wine cellar and upstairs salons, all embedded in a park-like landscape that offers a sense of calm and escape.
Chef Martial Kastner brings a clear philosophy to the kitchen: "My cooking style is rooted in classic French cuisine. I reinterpret familiar dishes in a modern way." He adds, "I want to create a place with first-class cuisine and attentive service that radiates comfort and well-being in every season." This approach has earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommendation for 2026. The menu changes regularly, with a rotating lunch offering and seasonal specials that highlight the kitchen's precision and respect for tradition. Dishes are built on French foundations—sauces, techniques, classic pairings—but presented with contemporary lightness.
Beyond daily service, Villa Winzerpark hosts themed events that showcase its versatility. Recent highlights include a Wine & Dine evening pairing South African wines with a five-course menu, and a "Paëlla Royale" week featuring shellfish and saffron rice. These events, held in the villa’s atmospheric rooms or on the garden terrace, reflect the kitchen’s ambition to surprise and delight. Outdoor seating on the terrace and ample parking with direct access from the underground garage make it a convenient retreat for both locals and visitors. Wheelchair-accessible spaces ensure the experience is open to all.
