The story
In the heart of Biel’s old town, Du Bourg occupies a listed building full of history and character. The restaurant opened in 2025 when four friends – Manuel, Finn, Petra, and Julian – brought their shared passion for food and genuine hospitality to this space. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, an invitation to slow down and enjoy the evening.
Dining here is built around a surprise menu of five or six courses. The kitchen lets seasonality and clear flavours take centre stage, with two courses replaced every five weeks to reflect the rhythm of the year. A carefully composed beverage pairing, with or without alcohol, is available to accompany the meal. For those who prefer it, a lovingly crafted vegetarian version of the menu is always offered.
Du Bourg earned a Michelin star in the 2026 guide, a testament to the team’s dedication to high-quality cooking. The restaurant has also been recognised by Gault&Millau and other Swiss culinary media. The philosophy is simple: create experiences through thoughtful modern cuisine, genuine hospitality, and a deep respect for seasonal produce.
