The story
In the peaceful village of Sonceboz, on the watchmaking axis between Biel/Bienne and La Chaux-de-Fonds, the Hôtel-restaurant Du Cerf stands as a high place of gastronomy. Since its takeover in 1999 by Jean-Marc Soldati and Christian Albrecht—both alumni of the legendary Hôtel de Ville de Crissier under Fredy Girardet and Philippe Rochat—the venerable building has been transformed into a destination for Classic French cuisine.
Since July 2015, Jean-Marc Soldati has been at the helm alone, now supported by two talented young chefs. The kitchen earned a Michelin star in 2001 and has retained it every year since. Gault&Millau awarded two toques and 16 points from the outset in 2000, and Du Cerf has been a member of the Grandes Tables de Suisse since 2013.
The restaurant’s philosophy is rooted in a farm-to-table approach, with an interesting wine list that complements the refined, seasonal cooking. The atmosphere is that of a classic Swiss inn, elegant yet welcoming, where guests come from far and wide for a meal that is both precise and generous.
With its consistent recognition and the steady hand of a chef trained in one of Switzerland’s most famous kitchens, Du Cerf remains one of the best addresses in the entire Jura Arc.
