The story
On the medieval Grand-Rue in Fribourg, Restaurant Hôtel de Ville has been a fixture for more than twenty years. Anne and Frédérik Kondratowicz run this address with an emphasis on simplicity, authenticity, and the pleasure of sharing a moment. The restaurant is recognized by the Michelin guide, a Recommended spot for those seeking refined, seasonal modern cuisine.
The kitchen follows the rhythm of the market. A spring menu emerges with the colors and scents of the new season, and a vegetarian menu is also offered. For weekday lunches, a three-course market-inspired menu is available at 38 CHF. Among the house specialties is foie gras de canard Landais, perfumed with old Cognac Fine Bois, sold by weight for those who wish to take a piece home.
The dining room is also a gallery. The restaurant hosts rotating art exhibitions under the name "Resto d'art," with works from painters, sculptors, and photographers displayed on the upper floor. Recent shows have included the "EN CHEVÊTREMENTS" textile-inspired works of Christine Wick. The space is available for private parties and private dining.
The team at Hôtel de Ville welcomes guests for lunch and dinner, Tuesday through Saturday, with evening service beginning at 18:45. The atmosphere is warm and unpretentious, a place where the Kondratowicz and their brigade share their love of good food and good company.
