The story
In the Bernese Oberland town of Frutigen, the Blaser family has been welcoming guests for more than 120 years. Today, Juliane and Philipp Blaser run the house in the fourth generation. The property combines a boutique hotel, a restaurant, a confiserie, and a chocolate workshop – all under one roof. The over-100-year-old building offers 17 cozy rooms and a view that stretches into the Bernese Alps.
Philipp Blaser stands at the stove himself, personally crafting the food. His cooking has earned him a Michelin Bib Gourmand, as well as recognition from the Gilde etablierter Schweizer Gastronomen and Best of Swiss Gastro. The kitchen focuses on what the team calls "frisch, hausgemacht – ehrliche Küche": fresh, homemade, honest cooking. Regional products are skilfully combined with innovative ideas and international aromas. The result is a cuisine that is both Swiss and International in character, rooted in the valley but not limited by it.
The menu changes with the seasons and local availability. The restaurant also hosts special events, such as a Thai buffet, where guests can enjoy a taste of Southeast Asia for an evening. Whether lunch or dinner, the atmosphere is warm and unpretentious, with an outdoor terrace for fine weather.
The Blasers experience extends beyond the dinner table. The in-house confiserie turns out delicate sweets, and the Choco-Atelier will offer chocolate workshops – a sweet counterpart to the savoury kitchen. The place is also available for private parties, events, and small celebrations, with several rooms that can accommodate up to 50 people.
For those who value authenticity and a direct connection to the chef, Philipp Blaser in Frutigen delivers a genuine taste of the Swiss Alps, recognised by the Bib Gourmand for its quality and value.
