The story
On Geneva’s Rue du Rhône, a historic bistro has been reborn as F.P.Journe Le Restaurant. The meeting of two exacting artists—master watchmaker François-Paul Journe and chef Dominique Gauthier—this address marries horological precision with culinary excellence. Their shared language of passion and attention to detail is evident in every element, from the elegant Modern French cuisine to the refined, vintage setting.
The restaurant occupies a listed 19th-century arcade, once the legendary Bavaria brasserie where League of Nations delegates gathered. Today, its heritage woodwork, large mirrors, and geometrically patterned ceilings have been preserved, while subtle nods to Journe’s craft appear throughout: tables named after famous “artisans of the time,” wall frames displaying watch components, and even knife handles shaped like movement parts.
After three decades at the helm of Le Chat Botté, chef Dominique Gauthier brings his signature style to this new venture. His cooking is rooted in the codes of haute cuisine—stocks, sauces, precise cooking—but brightened with Mediterranean notes and accents from his travels in Thailand. He works closely with regional suppliers: vegetables from Pierre Gallay, poultry from Nant d’Avril, beef from the Minder family.
The menu offers a choice of à la carte dishes, a lunchtime Menu of the Week, and Tasting Menus of 4, 5, or 7 courses. Standouts include roasted scampi with kadaif, citrus and basil; Breton lobster with Imperator curry; and roasted Nant d’Avril chicken with chanterelles. For dessert, the soufflé flambé with two chartreuses or a floating clock with pistachios and Madagascar vanilla cream.
The restaurant is also a destination for wine lovers, offering a carefully curated wine library with three exclusive cuvées, including a special F.P.Journe Le Restaurant vintage from Château Seguin. This commitment to quality has earned F.P.Journe Le Restaurant a Michelin star, a recognition that feels entirely natural in a place where gastronomic, oenological, and horological excellence converge.
