The story

Mayrig Bistrot Geneva: Refined Armenian Cuisine and Family Heritage

The lineage behind the kitchen

Mayrig Bistrot brings Armenian cuisine to Geneva through recipes passed directly from mother to daughter. Aline Kamakian established the family-run concept after launching successful restaurants abroad, making this Geneva location her first European outpost. The Gault&Millau guide recently recognized the kitchen with a score of thirteen, highlighting how the team preserves heritage while serving in a relaxed, modern setting. Guests typically share several small plates, turning each visit into a communal exchange.

Signature plates and seasonal techniques

Pandjarov Sarma wraps tender chard leaves around a mixture of rice, toasted nuts, and pomegranate molasses. Braised beef appears in Ourfa Fekhara, a slow-cooked clay pot dish combined with eggplant, fresh parsley, and earthy spices. Whole roasted cauliflower arrives alongside a smooth tahini-orange sauce and rice scented with orange blossom water. The Armenian kitchen finishes these savory notes with Ashtaliyeh Glace, a house-made vanilla base covered by warm fillo pastry, chopped pistachios, and candied orange segments.

The dining room and wine selection

A contemporary interior frames the family-style meals without competing with the food itself. The beverage program centers on an extensive collection of Armenian and Caucasian vineyards that trace back to ancient winemaking regions. Staff guide visitors through rare vintages that pair naturally with the rich spice profiles found across the menu. Large windows along Rue Caroline let natural light fill the space during daytime service, while evening seating adopts a quieter, more intimate rhythm.
