The story
Executive Chef Andrea D’Anna guides the brigade at Osteria Boato by Ketty & Tommy in Brissago, where modern Italian cooking shifts with seasonal harvests. The kitchen’s anchor is a saffron risotto served inside a hollowed Asiago-Montasio wheel, melted with house-distilled Grappa Americano and finished with king prawns. Creator Ketty designed the dish in 2014 to guarantee consistent quality and visual impact for every guest.
Situated along the quiet lakeside promenade in Brissago, the dining room faces a full 180-degree panorama of Lake Maggiore and the Brissago Islands. Guests choose from a handful of tables positioned right against the glass, ensuring unobstructed views of the water. The layout favors straightforward efficiency, a standard that earned the establishment a score of 13 from Gault&Millau.
Supplying one of the region’s freshest catches daily, this Italian kitchen transforms local ingredients into whole fish baked in thick salt crusts or delicate lemon risotto topped with baked felchen fillets. Raw preparations include crimson shrimp tartare dressed with Tropea onions and thinly sliced cured tuna paired with fennel salad. Desserts close the meal with salted caramel tiramisu or rich cassata.
