The story
Since 1949, L'Etoile has been a fixture in the small village of Noville, just outside Montreux, serving seasonal Classic French cuisine that draws on the best of the region. The restaurant’s philosophy is straightforward: use exclusively fresh, local produce, sourced from regional producers, and prepare everything à la minute to preserve the integrity of each ingredient. Since 2017, L'Etoile has held the Label "Fait Maison" – a guarantee that all dishes are made in-house.
The kitchen’s reputation is built on dishes like the famed Bouillabaisse "Maison" and the Italian-style fish soup, both of which have become beloved staples in the area. A seasonal "Promotion" menu – a surprise selection crafted by the chef from market-fresh ingredients – is available Sunday evenings and at lunch Thursday through Saturday, offering a choice of starter, main (meat or fish), and dessert or cheese for CHF 65.
Guests can choose from three distinct dining spaces that share a single, seasonally driven menu. The winter garden (jardin d’hiver) is a bright, relaxed conservatory that feels like dining under the sun and stars, no matter the weather. The chic bistro offers a more intimate, cosy atmosphere. For those seeking a wine-focused experience, the Bar à Vins & Table du Chef provides a dedicated space for aperitifs, wine by the glass, or a private chef’s table experience for groups of 4 to 10.
L'Etoile’s commitment to pure, precise cooking earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026. The Michelin inspectors recognize the restaurant’s consistently high-quality, bistronomic approach – a testament to a kitchen that has been delighting diners for more than seven decades.
Whether you’re drawn by the famous bouillabaisse, the market-surprise menu, or the warmth of a classic French bistro, L'Etoile remains a steadfast address for authentic, seasonal cooking in the Vaud region.
