The story
La Dispensa describes itself as “une expérience de cuisine italienne authentique” – an experience rooted in the flavours and warmth of Italian cooking. The restaurant, located on Rue des Bercles in Neuchâtel, offers a setting that balances elegance with a relaxed, genuine atmosphere. Whether you come for lunch or dinner, the focus is on precise, seasonal cooking that honours tradition without being stuck in the past. This approach has earned the restaurant a place among Michelin’s Recommended selections – a recognition that reflects the kitchen’s consistent quality and thoughtful execution.
The signature tasting menu is called “Radici” (Roots), and it evolves with the seasons. A recent version begins with a mise en bouche, followed by a riff on the classic Uovo alla Nerano – egg with courgette flowers and provolone del Monaco. Tagliolini with lemon, ricotta and melissa leads into a main of beef fillet with a potato millefeuille and seasonal vegetables, finished with a demi-glace. Dessert is the house tiramisù – mascarpone, cocoa and coffee gelato – followed by petits fours. At CHF 115 per person, it’s a focused, satisfying journey through contemporary Italian cuisine, without extraneous flourishes.
Beyond the dining room, La Dispensa offers a catering and chef à domicile service, replicating the restaurant experience in private homes, offices or events. The team brings the same dishes, the same attention to detail, and the same authentic Italian spirit to wherever you are. It’s a flexible way to enjoy their cooking – whether for a celebration or a business dinner – and it’s built on the same philosophy: professional, discreet, and always personal.
La Dispensa is open Tuesday through Saturday, with lunch and dinner service, closed Sunday and Monday.
