The story
Oliveiras sits on Sagenriet in Lachen, a short drive from Rapperswil, and makes a strong impression from the very first “Olá”. Run by Gilda and Francisco Oliveira, the restaurant describes its style as “creative Mediterranean hospitality” – a promise delivered with Portuguese warmth and a distinctly personal touch.
The atmosphere is genuine and relaxed. Guests are welcomed into a space that feels both convivial and refined, with a garden terrace that opens when the weather allows. The restaurant emphasises unhurried enjoyment, serving dinner from 18:30h Tuesday to Friday, and from 18:00h on Saturdays.
The menu changes with the market, but regular highlights include Tuesday’s Flamm-Day, featuring flammkuchen, pinsa and tapas – and on that night guests are invited to bring their own wine. Thursdays are devoted to Moules & Frites, served “à discrétion” for parties of two to six. Beyond these specials, the à la carte offering draws on Mediterranean and Portuguese culinary traditions, with ingredients chosen from what’s best at market.
The wine list is interesting, and the team can arrange catering, private parties, and takeaway. The Michelin inspectors have recognised Oliveiras with a Recommended award for 2026, a nod to the consistent quality and genuine hospitality that define the experience.
For those arriving by car, parking is available right next to the house. The restaurant is also a short walk from Lachen’s train station and boat dock. Whether for a spontaneous dinner or a celebration, Oliveiras offers a warm, unfussy place to eat well.
