The story
Panorama Resort & Spa brings authentic Thai cooking to Rapperswil, perched at the summit of a property with roots stretching back to 1897. The building originally operated as Pension Schönfels before undergoing several ownership changes and a major transformation under the Rüegg family. Guests still gather here for weekend brunches and extended stays overlooking the water. The upper floors now host an elegant dining space and extensive wellness amenities.
Chef Pich Tongurai leads the culinary program from Loy Fah, the restaurant situated on the top floor. His approach centers on authentic Thai cooking, balancing familiar flavors with precise technique. The menu features a delicately spiced tuna tartare accompanied by baked mushrooms and crispy tapioca chips. Another highlight is the Tom Yum Gung broth, built around black tiger prawns and fresh lemongrass.
This dedication to genuine Thai cuisine earned the restaurant fourteen points from Gault&Millau in their 2026 guide. Reviewers praised the buttery texture of the braised beef ribs served alongside fried papaya strips, noting how the rich meat contrasts with bright citrus notes. The dining room offers sweeping views of the lake basin, making it a natural choice for multi-course tasting menus. Corresponding wine pairings are drawn from a curated selection designed to complement Southeast Asian aromatics.
