The story
Le 1424 sits on the third floor of La Fabrique Cornu, in the village of Champagne above Yverdon-les-Bains. The kitchen works with seasonal terroir products, reimagining them in surprising flavor combinations that restore traditional dishes to their full nobility. The cuisine is modern, rooted in the landscapes that surround the restaurant.
Large picture windows frame a rare panorama: the wide expanse of Lake Neuchâtel and the Vaud Alps. The warm, welcoming dining room draws the eye outward, making the view as much a part of the experience as the food. Le 1424 holds a Michelin Recommended distinction, a quiet recognition of its consistent quality and thoughtful cooking.
The midi menu changes regularly and is offered as a complete formula (entrée, plat, dessert) at a reasonable price. Recent examples include a tomato and pepper gazpacho, avocado tartare with shrimp and lime, grilled salmon with quinoa salad and cucumber-mint, and duck breast with cherry-orange sauce and mashed potatoes. A selection of desserts from La Fabrique’s own pastry shop rounds out the meal.
On select Sundays, Le 1424 serves a brunch enjoyed at the table: a multi-course menu featuring a bread basket with viennoiseries, a Bircher muesli, seasonal salad with local charcuterie and cheeses, a hot main course (meat, fish or vegetarian), and an assortment of desserts. Hot drinks and juice are included. It is a relaxed, indulgent way to spend a Sunday afternoon, with the alpine light filling the room.
