The story
AMEO describes itself as a place where enjoyment, inspiration, passion, warmth, and serenity come together. Located on Zentralstrasse in Zurich’s Wiedikon district, the restaurant has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction for its thoughtful modern cuisine and distinctive art-focused concept.
Chef Julien Mühlebach and his team serve a 4 to 6-course surprise menu that changes regularly. The dishes are built around sustainable ingredients from small, personally known producers in the region. The cooking is creative, unpretentious, and full of dedication – a reflection of the team’s genuine passion.
Every two to three months, AMEO welcomes a guest artist. Chef Mühlebach draws inspiration from the artist’s personality, works, and techniques to create a menu that echoes their creative spirit. Recent exhibitions have included Monica Märchy’s "Landen im Limbo," and the restaurant also hosts pop-up events, such as a collaboration at Resident in July 2026.
Maximilian Dullinger curates a wine list that features little-known jewels and surprising finds. He works closely with producers he visits regularly, ensuring each bottle complements the modern cuisine with character and authenticity.
The restaurant offers fine dining with outdoor seating in warmer months, and can also cater private parties or bring its concept to guests’ homes. The tone is welcoming and relaxed – "come by, have a glass, lean back, and let yourself be surprised."
Dinner is served Tuesday to Saturday from 18:30 to 23:00. Lunch is offered on the last Thursday of each month. The restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays. AMEO is a short walk from Bahnhof Wiedikon; no parking is available on site.
