The story
At Paradeplatz, steps from Zurich’s financial heart, AURA occupies the former stock exchange building. Over 2,000 square metres, the venue houses an 800° grill restaurant, a bar and smoker’s lounge, a versatile event hall, and a club. It is part of the Tao Group, which also runs several other venues in the immediate neighbourhood.
The 800° Grill is the restaurant’s centrepiece. An open kitchen lets guests watch as the team prepares European and international specialities on an original South Bend grill. The cooking is direct and ingredient-driven, with the heat of the fire doing the work. The dining room seats 100 and is open for lunch and dinner Monday to Friday, and dinner on Saturday.
Upstairs, the bar and smoker’s lounge opens at 17:00. The space is designed for lingering — before or after dinner, with a drink and a cigar. From Tuesday to Saturday evening, live piano music fills the room from 18:00 to 23:00, creating a relaxed backdrop for an apéro or a spontaneous night out.
The recognition from the Michelin guide, which lists AURA among its recommended restaurants, reflects the quality of the grill cooking and the consistency of the experience. The cuisine is best described as international grill, with a strong emphasis on open-fire techniques and seasonal ingredients.
AURA also runs a seasonal dinner show called Pink Rabbit from September to December, and the event hall can host up to 650 guests for private and corporate functions. But the restaurant and bar remain the core: a place where fire, music, and a central Zurich location come together without fuss.
