The story
Tucked at the edge of the forest, surrounded by vegetable beds, herbs and fruit bushes, blooms is a garden restaurant that feels a world apart from the city. Open from late May to the end of September, this purely outdoor dining experience at The Dolder Grand in Zürich is a seasonal affair, available exclusively in dry weather. The terrace garden seats just 36 guests, with tables and the open kitchen shaded by sun sails on warm summer days.
Chef Fine Dining Heiko Nieder and his team draw their inspiration directly from the hotel’s own vegetable garden. The dishes are light, modern and uncomplicated – vegetarian, vegan, regional and seasonal. Many of the ingredients come from the garden steps away, supplemented by produce from local suppliers. The menu reflects a garden lifestyle: vibrant colours, aromas and textures on the plate, paired with a glass of rosé in a relaxed, summery atmosphere.
The restaurant holds 16 Gault&Millau points and has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction – recognition that aligns with its clear philosophy: healthy eating as more than a lifestyle. blooms is a place where the garden is both the setting and the source, and where every dish speaks of the season and the soil.
