The story
At Tellstrasse 22, Gül opens its doors to anyone who values food made with care. The scent of freshly baked bread from the wood-fired oven, lamb grilled over charcoal, and homemade baklava fills the air. Baba, Elif, and the team welcome guests with genuine warmth—personal, heartfelt, with a high standard for quality and atmosphere. Lunch, dinner, or brunch, the invitation is simple: come as you are, sit with us, and become part of the world.
The inspiration comes from eight culinary regions of Turkey—from the Black Sea to the Aegean, Central to Eastern Anatolia, the Mediterranean to Thrace. Each region brings its own aromas, techniques, and stories. Cooking happens over open fire, in the wood oven, and on the grill—not for romance, but for flavor. The menu changes with the seasons, prepared by hand with ingredients that are known, loved, and trusted. Organic where possible, always honest. Sharing is encouraged, whether meat, fish, or vegetarian. Alongside, wines with stories, interesting drinks, and homemade classics. This approach earned Gül the Michelin Bib Gourmand, a recognition of good quality and good value cooking.
The weekend brunch has become something of a tradition. Saturdays and Sundays, the table fills with grilled peppers, egg dishes, fresh ekmeks, simits, and pides from the wood oven, kaymak (Turkish fresh cheese), olives, and homemade confit—plus seasonal fruits. It’s a leisurely affair, served from 11 AM.
At the Gül Bar, cocktails are Turkish-inspired or classic, enjoyed solo or with friends. The restaurant seats 88 inside, with 64 outdoor spots in summer, making it a place for family gatherings, business dinners, or celebrations. Gift vouchers are available for those who want to share the experience.
Gül is a place where sharing, laughing, eating, and drinking happen naturally. Herzlichkeit—heartfeltness—is not a promise but an attitude. The goal: to fill you up, and make you a little happy.
