The story
KLE is a small, welcoming restaurant on Zweierstrasse in Zurich, where chef Zineb Hattab—known as Zizi—cooks with care and intention, letting ingredients speak for themselves. A native Spaniard and daughter of Moroccan immigrants, Zizi grew up on the Costa Brava and worked as an engineer before changing careers to follow her passion. Her deeply personal cuisine reflects her life journey, and her work has earned the restaurant a Michelin star for high quality cooking.
The cooking at KLE is vegetable-forward and guided by the seasons, shaped by close relationships with local farmers who ultimately dictate which products appear on the menu. Guests choose a 4- to 6-course surprise menu, with optional alcoholic or non-alcoholic pairings, or drinks from the a la carte wine list. Recent menu items include sourdough pillow bread with kosho and black garlic, apple and almond, corn and ginger, ancho chile and peanut, leeks with black pearl mushrooms and barley, and Albulatal potatoes with labneh and blossom honey—a snapshot of the care and range on offer.
The team at KLE sees itself as a family, working to build the inclusive world they wish to inhabit. The space itself is calm and inviting, a table where guests can relax and connect over food. For special occasions, the restaurant offers a private room and catering, and private events can be tailored to individual needs. Whether for an intimate dinner or a full restaurant gathering, the team helps create a memorable experience shaped to the guest.
