The story
In the heart of Zollikon, just minutes from Zürich, the Rössli occupies a half-timbered house that has stood since the 16th century. First licensed as a tavern in 1557, it was for centuries the village’s social and civic heart—a place for travellers, courts, and community gatherings. That sense of history is still palpable in its three dining rooms: the old-world Stube, the intimate Brunnenstübli, and the sun-drenched veranda with views over Lake Zürich.
Since November 2020, the Rössli has been in the hands of chef Filipe Almeida—who had been its creative force in the kitchen since 2014—and host Jesus Costoya, who joined as chef de service in 2018. Their aim is straightforward: to offer guests an unforgettable experience through love, dedication, and a commitment to classic, seasonal cooking.
The kitchen focuses on “beliebte und klassische Rezepte”—beloved, classic recipes—executed with the finest fresh ingredients. Lunch menus start at CHF 31, with everything prepared from scratch, from a savoury onion Tarte Tatin to the delicate Crèmeschnitte. The à la carte and wine lists change with the seasons, reflecting what is best at the moment. This dedication to quality has earned the restaurant recognition, including a recommendation from the Michelin guide for 2026 and 14 Gault Millau points.
The Rössli remains a gathering place. Its separate Brunnenstübli can host up to 40 guests, the veranda seats 22, and the main dining room welcomes 25. Whether for a private celebration or a simple lunch, the team offers customised banquet menus. In summer, the terrace by the historic Rösslibrunnen fountain invites guests to linger over an afternoon drink. The Rössli is closed Sunday and Monday, and opens for dinner Tuesday through Saturday at 18:30.
