The story
Since 2001, Hakkasan has been a global name for Chinese cuisine, blending traditional techniques with contemporary flair. At its Abu Dhabi outpost, set within the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, that philosophy is alive and well. The restaurant has earned a Michelin Star in the Michelin Guide’s Abu Dhabi debut, a recognition it shares with other Hakkasan locations in London and Dubai.
The kitchen is led by a talented chef whose passion lies in creating dishes that are both rooted in tradition and modern in expression. The menu is a balance of Hakkasan signatures and dishes curated with local tastes in mind. Among the standout offerings is the Hakkasan signature Peking duck, served with pancake, cucumber, and spring onion, and available with a choice of caviar. The jasmine tea smoked Wagyu beef ribs are slowly braised for four hours before being wok-smoked over jasmine tea leaves, a dish described as tender, sweet, and flavoursome. Dim sum, which means “touching the heart” in Cantonese, is a highlight, with options like the Supreme dim sum featuring har gau caviar, Chilean seabass, and abalone chicken shui mai.
The atmosphere is one of elegance and energy. The restaurant offers a dimly lit, designer setting with an outdoor terrace, private dining rooms, and a bar and lounge. The cocktail program, created by world-class mixologists, showcases seasonal ingredients and unique recipes. Special events include the Saturday Cantonese Treasure lunch and the Friday Night Brunch, known as Lost in Shanghai, which features unlimited cocktails and a selection of signature bites.
Hakkasan Abu Dhabi is a destination for high-end Chinese cuisine, offering a refined yet welcoming experience in the capital.
