The story
ryba, perched on the waterfront at Al Mina in Abu Dhabi, has quickly earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for its good quality, good value cooking. It’s the third restaurant from Emirati chef and entrepreneur Faisal Mohamed Alharmoodi, a name synonymous with the capital’s evolving food scene. Executive chef James Knight-Pacheco, an award-winning television personality, oversees the kitchen, focusing on fresh, organic, locally sourced seafood.
The menu reads like a tour of the sea: a succulent seabass marinated with dill, ginger, and tamarind; a fragrant Ryba Soup with Thai spices, poached blue crab, mussels, calamari, and shrimp oil; grilled shrimps served with garlic and lemon butter; and baked Dibba oysters topped with a chive crumble and béchamel. The kitchen also offers a seafood buffet, and the restaurant’s alcohol-free mixology program keeps the focus on the catch.
The setting is relaxed yet refined, with indoor and outdoor seating, private dining for parties, and a welcoming vibe that suits both casual lunches and celebratory dinners. The restaurant’s opening also earned an “Opening of the Year” award, and the Fact Dining Awards named it Abu Dhabi’s Favorite Seafood Restaurant. Whether you come for the lobster bao, the blue crab soup, or a simple grilled catch, ryba delivers seafood that’s confident, fresh, and decidedly unpretentious.
