The story
Since December 2020, Villa Mamas has brought its signature blend of tradition and contemporary flair to the UAE capital. Located on Muroor Road in Al Rawdah, the restaurant quickly established itself as a destination for authentic, heartwarming cuisine. The space combines modern elegance with the familiar charm that defines the Villa Mamas brand, creating an atmosphere that is both welcoming and refined.
The menu reflects the philosophy of founder and chef Roaya Saleh, drawing deeply on her Bahraini heritage while incorporating modern culinary techniques. This results in a menu that feels both soulful and elevated. Diners can explore dishes that honour Gulf traditions, such as the Chicken Mathrooba—a slow-cooked blend of chicken, rice, and herbs hand-beaten to a gooey texture—or the Chicken Machbous, a spiced chicken served over fragrant rice with a tangy tomato daqous sauce. Chef Roaya’s personal touch is evident in creations like the Cherry, Feta & Lamb Kofta, a twist on the Armenian cherry kebab, and the Sourdough Naan & Mahyawa, featuring a Bahraini garum crafted by her own aunt.
The restaurant’s commitment to quality and its unique culinary voice have earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction, placing it among the notable dining experiences in Abu Dhabi. This recognition aligns with Villa Mamas' broader ethos of community and social responsibility. The Abu Dhabi location proudly partners with the Emirates Red Crescent, donating 20% of its profits to support humanitarian efforts worldwide. It’s a dining experience that offers more than just a meal—it offers a taste of heritage, crafted with care and served with purpose.
