The story
In 2021, after a series of sold-out supper clubs held in undisclosed locations across Dubai, the chef known only as Hawkerboi finally put down roots. His first permanent restaurant landed at The Park, Jumeirah Lake Towers, bringing with him the same mystique that earned him comparisons to Banksy. The venue is fully licensed, with a bar, two terraces, and an open kitchen where the action never stops.
Step inside, and you’re met with sultry red neon accents, lively music, and the constant clatter of woks. The open kitchen is the heart of the room — dishes are steamed, roasted, grilled, and wok-cooked in full view of the guests. The intention is to recreate the energy of a Southeast Asian street-food scene, minus the humidity. Whether you’re after a casual night out or a lively gathering with friends, the space adapts.
Hawkerboi’s menu draws inspiration from the chef’s travels through Malaysia and Thailand, focusing on Asian-style hawker food that is unapologetically bold and fresh. The cooking is direct and honest: no fuss, just big flavors delivered from the open kitchen. That approach earned the restaurant a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026, a recognition that rewards good quality cooking at accessible prices.
The restaurant serves dinner nightly from 6PM, plus a daily lunch and a weekday business lunch. Tables of two or more can be reserved online, but several are kept for walk-ins — arriving early is advised. With its intimate scale and cult following, Hawkerboi feels like the kind of place you’d only hear about through word of mouth. Now, you don’t need a secret address to find it.
