The story
At TakaHisa in Dubai Marina, the focus is on two of Japan’s most celebrated ingredients: the freshest seafood from Toyosu Market and the world’s finest Wagyu beef. This Japanese restaurant, located on the first floor of Banyan Tree Dubai, has earned its place in the 2025 Michelin Guide Dubai and was awarded 3 Toques in the 2025 Gault & Millau UAE, where it was also named Home-Grown Restaurant of the Year.
The experience centres on two master chefs. Chef Takashi Namekata, a sushi master who spent 15 years with the Michelin-recognised Tokyo Ukai Group, prepares authentic sushi using seafood flown in directly from Toyosu four to five times a week. Chef Hisao Ueda, a Wagyu Beef Master from Hokkaido, oversees the Ozaki Beef programme. The restaurant serves A5-grade Wagyu with a marbling score of 12, as well as exclusive access to award-winning Kobe and Matsusaka beef.
Diners can watch the chefs work at the sushi and Ozaki Beef counter, where a special omakase course is prepared. The restaurant also partners with the UAE Royal Family on the Hatta Honey Garden, using its honey in desserts. For a different style, the adjacent ROBATA restaurant on the terrace offers yakiniku- and shabu-shabu-style Wagyu, and two air-conditioned private rooms were added in 2025 for year-round comfort.
