The story
Noble describes itself as a bustling neighbourhood restaurant in the heart of Holywood, County Down. It offers a changing, seasonal menu and an evolving, exciting wine list, all under the guidance of Pearson Morris (The Cook) and Saul McConnell (The Butler). The restaurant’s ethos is captured in a quote from P.T. Barnum: “The noblest art is that of making others happy.”
This commitment to quality and value has earned Noble a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide, an award that recognises good quality, good value cooking. It’s a fitting accolade for a spot that aims to be both welcoming and refined.
The menu is designed to change with the seasons, and the restaurant offers a range of dining options. Alongside the main à la carte menu, there is a bar menu, a Sunday menu, a dedicated vegetarian menu, and a set lunch (two courses for £30, three for £35). Desserts include options like vanilla cheesecake with caramelised pineapple, a steamed sponge with rhubarb compote and custard, and a chocolate delice with pecan and caramel ice cream. A cheese board features selections from Ireland and beyond, including Young Buck from County Down and St Tola from County Clare.
The drinks list complements the modern cuisine with a curated selection of wines, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages. Fortified and sweet wines are available by the glass, including a Kopke Colheita 2005 Porto and a Chateau Suduiraut 2007 Sauternes.
Noble is open Thursday to Saturday for lunch and dinner, and Sunday for a later lunch service. It is located at 27 Church Road in Holywood.
