The story

Scott's All Day, Cambridge: Award-Winning Pizza and Diner Vibes on Mill Road

The chef's path to Mill Road

Scott Holden relocated to Cambridge in 2013 to manage Fitzbillies, bringing background experience from London kitchens such as The Pig and Butcher and Smokehouse. His family lived on Mill Road during those early years, allowing him to absorb the street's cosmopolitan character and feisty community pride. Extensive travel through Vancouver and New York further informed his approach, particularly a fascination with cosy dives and quick-service eateries across Brooklyn. Holden designed Scott's All Day as a welcoming base for residents, emphasizing friendly faces and comforting dishes.

Detroit pies and lumberjack stacks

The kitchen balances two distinct pizza styles, offering thick-crust Detroit rectangles alongside traditional Neapolitan bases. Ingredients often highlight local sourcing, including 'nduja supplied by the Mill Road deli Culinaris and sausage patties sourced directly from the butcher opposite. The menu extends well beyond bread and cheese to support hearty breakfasts, notably the lumberjack stack featuring crispy potatoes, bacon, eggs, and maple syrup topped with a sausage patty from the butcher across the road. Regular promotions include Taco Tuesday and monthly Pay Day Pizza Parties where Neapolitan rounds drop to half price. Bottomless brunch selections allow diners to linger over American-style pancakes or the muscular lumberjack creation.

Diner-cool atmosphere

The interior channels diner-cool energy supported by a bouncy playlist and a team focused on friendly service. Families find space here through a kids-eat-free offer and flexible seating that welcomes prams and dogs. Private bookings skip the hire fee, relying on a minimum spend that adjusts according to the weekday. From corporate functions to milestone birthdays, the layout accommodates groups up to twenty via the booking system, keeping the focus on communal dining.

Expect diner-cool vibes, a bouncy playlist, friendly service and award-winning pizzas at this popular spot on independent-minded Mill Road. Go bottomless and let a weekend brunch slip into lunch as you linger over a stack of American-style pancakes or the muscular ‘lumberjack’ (pancakes, sausage patty from the butcher's over the road, eggs, bacon, crisp potatoes and maple syrup). There are pastas, grills and salads, but pizzas are the real stars. Detroit (rectangular) and classic Neapolitan versions include superlative ingredients such as ‘nduja from Mill Road deli Culinaris, while monthly collaborations with other local businesses celebrate the vigorous community spirit here.
