The story
Set in the village of Bridge, just outside Canterbury, the Bridge Arms is a pub shaped by its surroundings – surrounded by rolling hills and walking trails, it is a welcoming spot for locals and visitors alike. The team, led by Elliot Hewitt and Head Chef David Gadd, bring over 25 years of hospitality experience with a focus on fresh, seasonal food that reflects the best of Kent. Their approach is produce-driven, centred on seasonality and provenance, with much of the cooking done over charcoal sourced from a local Kentish woodland. The quality and consistency of this Modern British cooking earned the pub a Michelin Star in 2026 for high quality cooking.
The menu changes with the seasons, offering thoughtful, unfussy dishes that let the ingredients speak for themselves. Starters might include Josper-roast scallops with bacon butter, or aged beef tartare with watercress and sage. Mains range from barbecued hake with shellfish beurre blanc to a 28-day dry-aged sirloin with smoked béarnaise or green peppercorn sauce. Sides such as ratte potatoes and English asparagus with wild garlic butter complete the meal. Desserts like the Bridge Arms sticky toffee pudding with soda bread ice cream are firmly rooted in comfort. A bar snacks menu and a dedicated Sunday menu are also available.
Inside, roaring open fires provide warmth on cooler days; when the sun is out, the beautiful garden space with its outdoor bar and climbing frame invites relaxed afternoons. Dogs are welcome in designated areas, and the pub is equally suited for a quick drink, a family lunch, or a milestone celebration. The Bridge Arms remains very much a village pub – part of the community, connected to the land, and here for all the moments that bring people together.
