The story
Founded by Cheltenham local Jay Rahman, Prithvi brings a world of comfort and new taste sensations to Bath Road. The restaurant’s philosophy is clear: transform locally sourced ingredients into innovative dishes that reimagine classic Indian cuisine for the modern palate. Under the guidance of Michelin-trained Head Chef Thomas Law, the contemporary dining room serves a refined tasting menu that blends the finest ingredients into subtle, sensational flavours.
The menu is the heart of the experience, offering a choice of a la carte, a 5-course tasting menu, or a 7-course tasting menu. There is also a dedicated vegetarian tasting option. Everything created in the kitchen aims to enhance and elevate Indian classics, with a focus on texture and flavour. A carefully curated wine list complements the food.
Prithvi’s approach has earned widespread recognition, including a place in the Michelin Guide. The restaurant also holds a 3 AA Rosette award, was named Best Restaurant South West at the British Curry Awards, and has been voted Restaurant of the Year by SoGlos. The Telegraph listed it among Britain’s top 20 curry houses, and Harden’s rated it Cheltenham’s #1 Indian restaurant. The restaurant is also celebrated for blending Indian flavours with European influences, creating a unique dining experience that has been featured in Country & Town House and Luxury Lifestyle Magazine.
The dining room itself is elegant, with a dress code that encourages guests to dress up. A private dining room on the first floor offers an intimate setting for up to 12 guests, where the 5 or 7-course tasting menu is served. Prithvi also offers a lunch service Thursday through Saturday, and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday.
