The story
Laurence and Sera Henry run The Martins Arms, set in the idyllic Vale of Belvoir village of Colston Bassett, near Cropwell Bishop. This is a country pub that knows what it does: a refined yet cozy dining experience in the restaurant, a pint and a pub classic by the fire in the tap room, or rose and pizza on the garden terrace. There’s something for everyone, and the Michelin Recommended status for 2026 confirms that the kitchen is doing something right.
Laurence and his skilled team craft seasonal menus with fresh, local ingredients, delivering contemporary spins on classic dishes. Their creative touch brings vibrant, bold flavours to every table. The restaurant is served Wednesday to Saturday, the bar Monday to Saturday, and Sunday lunch runs from 12 to 6 pm. An autumn tasting menu is coming soon. Children’s menus are available every day, and the terrace opens when the weather permits.
Free parking, free WiFi, dog-friendly, child-friendly – the practical details are taken care of. The Martins Arms also has four rooms with relaxed charm for overnight stays, and the venue can be hired for celebrations, meetings, or wakes. Gift vouchers are available for dinner, bed and breakfast, or weekends away. Whether you’re stopping in for a pint by the fire or settling in for a full tasting menu, this is British hospitality done without fuss.
