The story
The Back Garden is one of the dining experiences within Dormy House Hotel, a country retreat perched high above the village of Broadway on a 500-acre Cotswolds estate. The restaurant’s kitchen focuses on seasonal ingredients, with an emphasis on high-welfare rare-breed meats and vegetables grown in the hotel’s own garden. The cooking is Modern British in style, letting the quality of the produce lead.
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, a space where the elegance of the setting and the natural beauty of the surroundings meet exceptional cuisine. Menus change with the seasons: in spring, for example, asparagus from Revills Farm appears, paired with a poached duck egg.
The Back Garden is also part of several hotel packages, including the Garden Graze break, which offers guests a dining credit towards dinner, and the Feast and Stay package. The restaurant has earned a Michelin Recommended award for 2026, a recognition of its consistent quality. It sits alongside the hotel’s other dining options—the intimate, eight-course tasting menu at MO, and the more casual Shed—but The Back Garden stands out for its straightforward, ingredient-led approach to Modern British food.
