The story
On Dumbarton Road in Partick, GaGa is a neighbourhood bar and kitchen that describes itself simply: “wholesome fare + cocktails + friendly folk.” The formula has clearly struck a chord – in 2026, the restaurant earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand, an award that recognises good quality, good value cooking.
The menu is built around Malaysian-inspired small plates, designed for sharing over drinks. Starters include Mamak Chicken Wings LAH, Prawn Toast with Kewpie Mayo, and Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken with lime leaf and white pepper mayo. A standout is the Toona Tamarind Noodle Salad, alongside a vegetarian version made with crispy chickpeas. Sides like Chaat n’ Chilli Fries, Smokin’ Wok Greens (available gluten-free), and Sticky Gingery Potatoes round out the savoury offerings. For dessert, there is Milk Bread Hainanese Toast with butter and a Matchamisu.
The drinks programme is equally considered, with a bar that stays open later than the kitchen. The space is welcoming and unpretentious, with wheelchair access and options for gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian diets clearly marked on the menu.
GaGa is open Wednesday to Friday for dinner, and Saturday and Sunday for lunch and dinner. The kitchen runs 5-9pm midweek and 1-9pm on weekends. Takeaway is also available.
