The story
Gianluca Tozzi and Jack Booth opened Galleria in Hastings to create a neighbourhood spot focused on quality seafood. Tozzi draws directly from his upbringing along the Puglian coast, spending years establishing personal relationships with local fishermen. That maritime foundation dictates how the menu operates, shifting frequently to match whatever arrives at the pier rather than following rigid seasonal calendars.
Marinated anchovies arrive dressed with horseradish and dill, while Sussex wild bass crudo carries a nectarine and mint dressing. Heavier mains feature monkfish wrapped in bacon beside dill-flecked Jersey Royals or turbot finished with caviar beurre blanc. Fresh scialatielli tossed with clams and asparagus offers a lighter course, often paired with Whitstable oysters ordered separately.
The dining space follows a simple contemporary layout that leaves the table entirely unobstructed. A tightly edited wine list runs exclusively through Europe, featuring bottles like a mineral-driven Vermentino from Sardinia or a crisp Sancerre designed for coastal seafood. The restaurant has earned repeated placement in The Good Food Guide, a reflection of the steady standards maintained behind the pass.
