The story
Set within Linthwaite House Hotel in the fells above Windermere, Henrock is an informal restaurant that serves dishes using local, seasonal ingredients. The menu is inspired by flavours and techniques discovered on Simon Rogan's travels around the world, especially to his restaurants in Hong Kong, Malta and Thailand.
Produce comes from Our Farm, a regenerative farm only a short distance away in the Cartmel Valley. Head chef Mark McCabe works with Our Farm's head grower and head chef to grow and preserve a selection of tropical plants and exotic species. This farm-to-fork ethos is at the heart of Henrock's modern cuisine.
At dinner, Henrock offers a Choice Menu (£65), a Short Menu (£79), and a Full Menu (£125). The Full Menu is a multiple-course tasting menu that showcases the chef’s highlights, while the Choice Menu allows guests to choose between a starter and main, or main and dessert. On Sundays, a two-course set lunch (£42) includes snacks, a main course and dessert. Sample dishes include Sugarsnax carrot with buckwheat and sour cream, blackened celeriac pudding with preserved Welsh truffle, and Sladesdown duck with spring garlic and salted plum.
Henrock has earned a Michelin Recommended award for 2026, reflecting its commitment to quality and sustainability in the Lake District.
