The story
At Arros QD in London, the fire is the star. The restaurant’s striking six-metre wood-fired stove sits at the centre of the ground-floor dining room, where flames rise and rice transforms over glowing embers. This is Spanish contemporary cuisine driven by the elemental power of fire, led by acclaimed chef Quique Dacosta—a chef whose restaurants collectively hold seven Michelin stars and who is recognised as one of the world’s 50 best chefs. Arros QD itself has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, cementing its place as a destination for refined Spanish flavours in London.
The menu is built around rice—and lots of it. Expect an array of takes on the classic Valencian paella, from pork knuckle to tofu and sea lettuce, alongside cuts of meat and fish cooked over the open fire. The energy of the open kitchen is immersive, and guests can watch the action unfold from tables on the ground floor. For a more intimate experience, the upstairs dining room offers a quieter retreat.
The restaurant’s interior was designed by world-renowned Spanish designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán. Spread across two floors, the space combines contemporary elegance with authentic Spanish charm. The ground floor features a glazed wine cellar and a cocktail lounge called The Bird Room, perfect for pre-dinner drinks. Upstairs, two private rooms are available for gatherings.
Dacosta’s journey began in Extremadura, Spain, and he has been cooking since 1986. His approach to Valencian cuisine is rooted in local products, new techniques, and a window open to the world. At Arros QD, this philosophy is expressed through a menu that blends Mediterranean influences with locally sourced ingredients, accompanied by a wine list that highlights Spanish gems alongside classic wines from around the world.
