The story
The kitchen is helmed by head chef Mike Murphy, who oversees a cave-à-manger style operation with a daily changing menu. The restaurant offers two distinct experiences depending on the day: Tuesday and Wednesday see a bar menu, while Thursday through Sunday feature a fuller kitchen menu. This focus on quality, seasonally driven cooking and accessible pricing earned Cadet a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026, a recognition reserved for restaurants that deliver good quality, good value cooking.
The food is rooted in Mediterranean and Modern British influences, with charcuterie playing a central role — a reflection of Jephson’s expertise. The menu changes daily, so what you find on any given visit is shaped by what’s best at the market.
The space is split: half the tables are bookable for dining, while the other half are kept for walk-in guests. If the walk-in area is full, a waiting list is operated. This approach keeps the atmosphere lively and spontaneous, whether you are stopping by for a glass of wine and a plate of cured meat at the bar or settling in for a full meal.
Cadet is also available for private events, with options ranging from seated feasting dinners for up to 26 guests to standing parties for up to 40. The space can be booked any day of the week. For those who prefer to enjoy Cadet at home, both wine and charcuterie are available for home delivery.
