The story
On Charlotte Street in Fitzrovia, Elsa is a seasonal bistro and wine bar that takes its inspiration from the Alsace region. The team describes their approach as “celebrating the art of pairing,” bringing together Alsatian influences with locally sourced ingredients and traditional methods.
The menu changes with the seasons, reflecting a commitment to fresh, high-quality food. Dishes from a sample festive menu give a sense of the kitchen’s style: Mangalitza Bratwurst with Prune Ketchup, Roasted Pumpkin with Chestnuts and Goat’s Curd, and Overnight Braised Pork Shoulder with Sage and Apple Sauce. The wine list is a key part of the experience, with pairings designed to complement the food.
The atmosphere is one of thoughtful hosting – a place for savouring time in good company. Elsa is open for lunch, apéro, and dinner, with a dedicated apéro menu of cold cuts, cheeses, and snacks available from 5.30pm. Specials are offered on Saturdays.
Elsa’s consistent quality and value have earned it a Michelin Bib Gourmand, a recognition that aligns perfectly with its ethos of serving excellent, seasonal Modern French and Alsatian cuisine in a relaxed setting.
