The story
On Marylebone High Street, Fischer’s brings the spirit of an early twentieth-century Viennese coffee house to London. This informal neighbourhood restaurant and café, part of The Wolseley Hospitality Group, is a place to settle in for the day—whether that means a morning pastry, a leisurely lunch, or a late dinner.
The team describes the atmosphere as “warmly evocative of Vienna,” and the space is filled with artworks and trinkets collected by the Fischer’s family, making it feel like a home away from home. The kitchen, led by Head Chef Claud, focuses on a classic Austrian menu that changes with the seasons, complemented by weekly specials inspired by the best local produce.
From breakfast onwards, the menu is a tour of Austrian favourites. Mornings bring traditional Viennese breakfasts, Gröstls, Röstis, and a Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Pretzel. The all-day offering is built around the dishes that define the cuisine: Schnitzels, Sausages, Tafelspitz, Goulash, and Käsespätzle. The Konditorei and dessert selection is equally essential, with Apple Strudel, Sachertorte, Kaiserschmarrn, and Black Forest Gâteau, all best enjoyed with a traditional hot chocolate or coffee mit schlag.
The wine list showcases esteemed producers from Austria, Germany, Hungary, and Alsace, while the cocktails are inspired by Vienna’s rich history. This commitment to delivering a genuine, high-quality experience has earned Fischer’s a Michelin Recommended award, recognising it as one of London’s destinations for authentic Austrian cooking.
