The story
For chef owners Jack Croft and Will Murray, the bird is the star. FOWL, which opened in October 2023 just around the corner from their flagship Fallow St. James’s, is a dedicated celebration of the nation’s favourite poultry. The all-in, beak-to-feet menu concept ensures that no part of the bird goes unused, turning what might be waste into flair and flavour.
The only bird on the menu is soy-free, pasture raised for twice as long as standard, and sourced from farms that practice regenerative agriculture. This commitment to well-raised produce is matched by a creative team that brings culinary gastronomy to every plate. The result is a menu that balances integrity with invention.
FOWL offers both indoor and outdoor dining, with a relaxed yet polished atmosphere. Open for lunch, dinner, and cocktails, it has quickly become a destination for those who appreciate thoughtful cooking and a welcoming setting. The restaurant’s location on Norris Street, a short walk from Piccadilly Circus, makes it a natural stop for a midday set lunch or a convivial evening.
Since opening, FOWL has hosted a line-up of guest chefs and collaborators, each bringing a distinct twist to the menu. Previous guests include Pierre Koffmann, who created a Chicken Leg Corn Dog and La Grande Coque Pie, the Table Manners podcast, James Blunt, and Professor Green. These monthly specials add a layer of surprise and creativity to the core offering.
In 2026, FOWL was awarded a Michelin Recommended distinction, a nod to the restaurant’s clarity of purpose and consistent execution. It is a fitting recognition for a team that has built a dedicated following around a single, beautifully sourced ingredient.
