The story

Krokodilos | Greek Restaurant in Kensington, London | Michelin Recommended 2026

A Family-Driven Kitchen in Kensington

Krokodilos brings the soul of Greek home cooking to Lancer Square, just off Kensington Church Street. Here, Chef Angelos Togias draws on recipes passed through his family, creating a menu that travels from Athens to Crete, Crete to Epirus, always following the natural rhythms of Greek seasons. The restaurant earned a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026 for its honest, craft-driven approach to Greek cuisine.

The In-House Ethos

The kitchen operates as a culinary workshop where nearly everything is made from scratch. Sun-dried tomatoes, spice blends, confit cherry tomatoes, fermentations, pickles, and yoghurt are all produced in-house. This commitment to craftsmanship extends to the restaurant's fermentation practices: sauces and dressings are developed through careful aging of fruits and vegetables, with pears harvested in autumn undergoing a two-month fermentation before becoming the base for a winter salad dressing. Pickling honours Greece's practical traditions, transforming radishes and red onions into preserved ingredients that capture seasonal peak essence.

Sweet Spoons and House-Made Yoghurt

A quintessentially Greek tradition, the "sweet spoons" are whole fruits or vegetables preserved in glistening syrup, maintaining their texture while concentrating flavour. These preserves accompany the house-made yoghurt, which develops through 30 hours of patient fermentation. Each month, new pairings emerge based on the finest seasonal fruits, creating a constantly evolving expression of time and place.

Chef's Table and Wine

Chef Togias also offers a Chef's Table experience, showcasing bespoke dishes inspired by his family recipes. The wine list highlights the incredible diversity of Greek winemaking, with regular special events featuring celebrated estates like Ktima Biblia Chora, Gaia Wines, and Domaine Zafeirakis.

A Welcoming Atmosphere

With counter dining, outdoor seating, and air conditioning, Krokodilos accommodates a range of preferences. The space is open for dinner Monday through Saturday, and for lunch and dinner on Sundays. Whether you're drawn by the meticulous fermentation or the simple pleasure of a sweet spoon and yoghurt, this is Greek cooking rooted in tradition and made with care.
