The story
La Fromagerie Marylebone brings a focused European approach to Marylebone, rooted in a 1992 consignment of Beaufort Chalet d'Alpage that launched Patricia Michelson’s original venture. That early commitment to quality earned a Local Gem designation from The Good Food Guide and shaped the flagship location that opened in 2002. The temperature-controlled cheese room now houses over two hundred artisan selections from across Europe and local farms. Expert cheesemongers Max, David, and Olivia curate the floor daily.
Daytime service at the adjoining café shifts toward a changing menu built around shop produce and classic European cooking. Christophe and Liam direct a small kitchen that prepares fresh salads, vegetable tarts, and warming soups alongside hearty supper dishes. Guests frequently order the pâté en croûte with prunes or the wild boar tagliatelle when those items appear on the daily board. A twice-baked Gruyère soufflé and toasted cheese sandwiches round out the lunch offerings.
Evening traffic moves toward No 6, the dedicated cheese and wine bar that extends operating hours until ten o’clock on Fridays. Maria and her beverage team oversee an extensive selection of European wines, half bottles, craft ciders, and low-alcohol options that pair directly with wooden boards. Coffee arrives from Le Piantagioni in Florence. Home-baked cakes and afternoon pastries sit beside antique tableware displays, creating a relaxed environment for casual gatherings.
