The story

Ottolenghi Chelsea: Middle Eastern Inspired Dining in London

The kitchen philosophy

Ottolenghi Chelsea delivers its signature Middle Eastern inspired cooking to a quiet spot on Pavilion Road in London. What began as a single shop in Notting Hill in 2002 has grown into a network guided by chefs Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi. Their test kitchen develops every recipe against a straightforward standard: does it bring colour, flavour and genuine satisfaction to the table? This approach shapes the daily menu, favouring abundant produce over heavy technique.

The Chelsea space

The room itself leans into tactile materials rather than polished formality. Textured walls meet a striking terrazzo floor that sets a relaxed tone for morning visits. White service counters line the perimeter, holding overflowing displays of fresh pastries and colourful salads that highlight the kitchen's vegetable-forward Middle Eastern cooking. Guests select their plates before finding a seat at a communal or standalone table.

The menu and drinks

Recognised as a Local Gem by The Good Food Guide for 2026, this location stays true to its all-day dining roots. The breakfast and lunch roster features scrambled harissa tofu with sweet potato crisps alongside Dutch pancakes. Roast chicken arrives seasoned with râl el hanout, sumac and chilli. A curated drinks list offers Coalition beer, low-intervention wines and raw ferments from the London Fermentary, though the venue operates strictly on a walk-in basis.

The Good Food Guide — Local Gem

Textured walls and a striking terrazzo floor add something a bit different to the Chelsea branch of Yotam Ottolenghi’s café/deli group, but there’s no mistaking the familiar white counters, the overflowing displays of cakes and pastries or the bowls of colourful salads and other Middle Eastern-inspired creations. Breakfast and an all-day lunch offer might bring anything from Dutch pancakes or scrambled harissa tofu with sweet potato crisps to roast chicken with ral el hanout, sumac and chilli. A fascinating drinks list includes Coalition beer and natural wines as well as raw, unpasteurised libations from the London Fermentary. Walk-ins only; not open for dinner.
