The story
Pizarro is the second London restaurant from celebrated Spanish chef José Pizarro, situated on lively Bermondsey Street just moments from London Bridge. It complements his original José Tapas Bar nearby, offering a slightly more expansive take on Spanish cooking while retaining the same warmth and simplicity.
The restaurant is centred around an open kitchen, where the action sets the tone for a relaxed yet animated meal. The menu changes with the seasons and spans both classic Spanish tapas and larger, more substantial dishes. Diners are free to order a selection to share, or treat plates as starters and mains. The cooking is rooted in José’s passion for high-quality, seasonal Spanish produce, brought to life with straightforward flavour and care.
For larger parties, Pizarro offers family-style group menus from £55 per person, featuring tapas staples such as croquetas, padrón peppers and pan con tomate, alongside mains, sides and desserts. A whole suckling pig (available for £355) can be pre-ordered as a centrepiece. A semi-private, wood-panelled dining room seats up to ten guests, ideal for birthdays or family gatherings.
Pizarro’s consistent quality and commitment to seasonal Spanish cooking have earned it a place in the Michelin Guide’s Recommended selection. It is a welcoming spot that balances neighbourhood ease with serious, ingredient-led cooking — whether you stop in for a quick plate of jamón or settle in for a leisurely evening.
