The story
In Thailand, an old saying captures the culture's deep connection to food: “Kin Dee, Yuu Dee, Mee Suk” – eat well, live well, be happy. This philosophy is the heart of Supawan, a Southern Thai restaurant on Caledonian Road in King's Cross. For Thais, asking what you ate is as natural as asking how you are. At Supawan, that question is answered with vibrant, honest cooking.
Owner and Executive Chef Wichet Khongphoon hails from the Phuket area of Thailand. After 22 years in London, he has made King's Cross his second home. His background includes time in Phuket's finest hotels, but his real inspiration comes from his mother's cooking. His goal is to create a warm, friendly restaurant filled with the dishes of his youth. Every aspect of Supawan benefits from his creative touch, from the menu to the atmosphere. This dedication has earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommended mention for 2026, a recognition of its consistent quality and authentic Southern Thai cuisine.
The kitchen's philosophy is rooted in tradition. A significant portion of vegetables and herbs are imported directly from Thailand, ensuring that dishes retain the true essence of their origin. Curry pastes and sauces are made in-house, capturing the rich depth of Southern Thai spices. The focus is on freshness: each plate is served promptly at its peak so guests experience the full spectrum of flavours and aromas. While the menu changes with the seasons, the commitment to authenticity remains constant. Whether you order delivery or dine in, Supawan delivers the taste of Thailand, one carefully prepared dish at a time.
