The story

Willett’s London: A Grounded British Bistro in Chelsea

The Kitchen and Its Philosophy

Willett’s in London approaches British cooking as a craft built on seasonal produce and honest technique. Executive Chef Michael Turner sources directly from UK growers and butchers to keep every plate focused on quality rather than complexity. The Good Food Guide readers noticed this clarity of purpose when they selected the venue for their 2026 Recommendations list. Turner treats the dining room like his own kitchen table, which keeps the service relaxed and genuinely welcoming.

Signature Plates and Seasonal Rotations

The menu centres on reliable favourites like chicken pie served with creamy mash and dark gravy, or sourdough crumpets dressed with Gentleman’s Relish. Afternoon tea gives way to dessert plates featuring sticky toffee pudding, jam roly-poly, and fresh custard tarts. Sunday brings the traditional roast while weekday evenings shift through daily specials that reflect the current harvest. This steady rotation keeps the British fare grounded.

A Calm Space Named for Its Builder

The townhouse bears the surname of its original architect, lending the dining room a quiet sense of history. Located at the junction of Belgravia, Knightsbridge, and Chelsea, the space opens onto Sloane Street and features a sheltered terrace for warmer days. Five to seven each evening marks Willett’s Hour, where neighbours gather for oysters and house lager before dinner service begins. The atmosphere stays unhurried, making it a natural refuge for locals seeking steady comfort.

The Good Food Guide — Readers Recommend

‘So English that you might be encouraged to sing a chorus of Jerusalem ,’ was our reporter’s lasting impression of this all-day bistro in the Belmond Cadogan hotel, set on a particularly swanky stretch of Sloane Street. Named for the builder of the townhouse, Willett's is a proper neighbourhood eatery with a mood of calm, comfy affluence, where diners can gently take in the unfettered Britishness of sourdough crumpets with Gentleman’s Relish, chicken pie with mash and gravy, and a raft of nostalgic old-school puds. To drink, look out for (possibly) the most extensive collection of English wines in town. We judge prices to be fair for the postcode.
