The story
Yi Qi brings a new Pan Asian concept to London’s Chinatown. The restaurant places emphasis on creating a relaxed environment with carefully selected furniture and wood decor. Upon entering, you see fresh seafood on ice beds, baskets of vegetables, and meats cooked sous vide – all available for you to choose from directly.
After selecting your ingredients, the chef prepares them using one of three techniques rarely seen together in Chinatown: Sous Vide (vacuum-sealed and cooked at a precise temperature), Binchotan (grilled over Japanese white charcoal), and Teppanyaki (grilled or fried on an iron plate). This hands-on approach lets diners tailor their meal, with the team accommodating dietary requirements.
Yi Qi’s thoughtful blend of Southeast Asian flavours and interactive dining earned it a Michelin Recommended award in 2026, reflecting the quality and originality of its Pan Asian cuisine. The walk-in-only policy adds to the spontaneous, welcoming atmosphere that defines this Lisle Street spot.
