Our Story

Tucked away off Broad Street in Lyme Regis, Sandro's offers an intimate dining experience that feels like sharing a meal among friends. Owner and chef Alessandro Strillozzi first knew the restaurant as a child, when his Italian father and English mother ran it 25 years ago. Now, alongside his partner Vicky Pearce, he has revived the family tradition in a new style.

Alessandro's path to the kitchen was forged through passion and dedication. He spent three years as head chef at the Michelin-starred Walnut Tree Inn, working under the guidance of Shaun Hill, who taught him respect for technique, seasonality, provenance, and restraint. His inspiration also draws from his Italian nonna and father, giving him an instinctive feel for the flavours of Tuscan cuisine – wild fennel, extra virgin olive oil, game, fish, and Chianti.

After his early years in the family restaurant, Alessandro cooked at River Cottage and Babington House, helped open The Gaff in Abergavenny, and travelled extensively in Asia. That travel sparked a passion for combining Western and Eastern flavours, which still influences how he composes his menus. His philosophy is simple: buy the best ingredients, season them properly, and serve them at the correct temperature.

Vicky Pearce, who runs front of house with experience from the Walnut Tree, brings a warm yet meticulous welcome – standards usually reserved for unsmiling Frenchmen in starched dinner jackets, but delivered with genuine hospitality.

The Experience

Sandro's serves a concise menu that blends Modern British and Tuscan influences, with an emphasis on the freshest seasonal ingredients. Every dish is a labour of love, bursting with flavour. The carefully selected drinks list has been chosen to perfectly accompany your meal.

During summer months, the restaurant offers al fresco dining. The small nature of the team means dietary requirements should be communicated at the time of booking.

Recognition

Sandro's has earned a Michelin Recommended award for 2026, a fitting tribute to Alessandro's dedication and the restaurant's refined, personal approach to dining in Lyme Regis.
