The story

Bisous Bisous: A Parisian Patisserie Finding in Manchester

Traditional craft and modern flavours

Bisous Bisous in Manchester operates as a dedicated French patisserie where every macaron begins with handcrafted technique. The kitchen follows a traditional method to shape ten distinct varieties, ranging from earthy pistachio and bright lemon to deep cherry and rich cappuccino. Each shell receives its signature crisp exterior and chewy interior through careful resting and precise oven temperatures. The Good Food Guide recently named the venue a Local Gem for this consistent dedication to artisanal standards.

Seasonal evening dining

The restaurant transforms on Friday evenings when the team opens the doors for a curated supper service. Guests gather between six and nine pm for a rotating seasonal menu that shifts with local harvests and ingredient availability. Table service runs throughout the night, allowing larger parties of more than ten people to reserve comfortably. The kitchen prepares these shared plates using techniques rooted in Parisian pastry practice, ensuring familiar comfort meets seasonal novelty.

A cosy neighbourhood retreat

Walking into the Chorlton location reveals a deliberately unhurried environment designed for lingering over coffee or afternoon tea. Pastries rest behind glass counters inside elegant packaging that resembles fine jewellery boxes. Visitors can order fresh viennoiserie, delicate tarts, and dense gâteaux alongside standard café beverages. The space balances quiet intimacy with genuine warmth, making it a reliable destination for both casual treats and planned gatherings around French patisserie staples.

The Good Food Guide — Local Gem

Packaged in pretty boxes that look as if they’ve come straight from Tiffany’s, the macarons at this small chain of artisan French patisseries tempt with glowing and seductive rainbow colours (the name translates as 'kiss, kiss'). Hand-made in the traditional way with 10 different flavours (from pistachio and lemon to cherry and cappuccino), they take pride of place alongside equally delicious eclairs, tarts, biscuits and gâteaux. The Chorlton branch has a sit-in café but the city-centre Deansgate shop is retail and takeaway only. There are also outlets at Selfridges in the Trafford Centre and Birmingham. Pricey, but you're paying for quality.
