The story
Climat occupies the eighth floor of Blackfriars House in Manchester city centre, a wine-led restaurant and bar with a rooftop setting that offers one of the best views in the city. The space also houses beehives, a subtle nod to the natural world that informs the kitchen’s approach.
Head Chef Chris Trundle, whose previous posts include Lyles in London and Brawn, oversees a mostly French menu that changes daily. The à la carte is steered by seasonality and availability of the best ingredients. The wine programme is equally considered, managed by Oliver Fletcher and Daniel Nuttall. Their list of over 400 wines focuses on Burgundy and Champagne from small growers, alongside terroir-expressive bottles from producers across Europe and beyond. The team aims to keep the selection accessible and approachable, while offering depth for those seeking iconic bottles from storied producers.
Climat’s thoughtful approach to modern cuisine and wine has earned it a Michelin Recommended award in 2026. The dining room offers counter seating and a bar, with outdoor seating on the rooftop when weather permits. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, driven by a genuine passion for the food and wine on offer.
Climat is open for dinner Tuesday and Wednesday from 5:30pm, and for lunch and dinner Thursday through Saturday from noon. The restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday. It is wheelchair accessible and can be hired exclusively for private parties. The entrance is via the intercom on the ground floor of Blackfriars House; take the lift to the top.
