The story

Runwayskiln: A Local Gem in Milford Haven’s Coastal Kitchen

The Coastal Kitchen

Runwayskiln occupies a quiet farmyard corner in Milford Haven, delivering straightforward coastal cooking close to the tide lines of Marloes Sands. Visitors drawn here by the coastal kitchen will find a menu built around local produce and simple preparation techniques. Recognized as a Local Gem by The Good Food Guide, the team serves smoked haddock gratin and crispy slow-roasted Myrddin Heritage pork shoulder with pickles and soft corn tacos. A light beer-battered fish dish rounds out the main courses alongside traditional mushy peas.

Farmyard Setting and Seasonal Rhythms

The building stands inside an active farmyard just steps from the main car park. Tides occasionally swallow the nearby sands completely, so visitors often plan their visits around the water levels. Summer weather draws guests outside to wooden picnic benches facing the open coastline. A small courtyard kiosk handles lighter requests during warmer months.

Sweet Finishes and Quiet Evenings

Afternoon service extends past four o'clock with homemade cakes and hot drinks. Guests frequently choose the locally churned Welsh ice cream to pair with their tea. The coastal cuisine relies on familiar comfort rather than complex plating. Self-contained hostel-style bedrooms sit quietly above the dining space for travelers continuing along the coast path.

The Good Food Guide — Local Gem

Well worth the walk down from the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, the remote expanses of Marloes Sands can be completely submerged during high tide (you have been warned). Located in a farmyard adjoining the car park, Runwayskiln's little café serves breakfast baps before 11am and a short but varied lunch menu ranging from smoked haddock gratin or crispy slow-roasted Myrddin Heritage pork shoulder with smoky black-bean chilli, pickles, chipotle mayo and soft corn tacos to ‘light and almost ethereal’ beer-battered fish with chips and mushy peas. In summer, picnic benches make the most of the coastal view, while the courtyard has a kiosk serving ice cream and toasties. Self-contained, hostel-style bedrooms too.
