The story
Since 2011, Caffè Rojano has been a fixture on Mill Square, a short walk from Padstow’s harbour. Housed in a charming eighteenth-century building, it was chef Paul Ainsworth’s first venture after opening the acclaimed No6. The restaurant quickly became a much-loved part of the local community, earning a Michelin Recommended status that speaks to its consistent quality and welcoming atmosphere.
The menu is built around bold, vibrant Mediterranean flavours, with a strong emphasis on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Small plates are designed for sharing, while hand-stretched Neapolitan-style pizzas emerge from a Gozney oven. Pasta is made in-house, and Cornish meat, fish, and vegetables are cooked over fire. The kitchen also turns out burgers and dayboat fish, with a legendary Whoopsy Splunker soft serve that has become a signature finish.
Breakfast highlights local produce, and throughout the day the restaurant serves tea, coffee, and cakes, all available for takeaway. An à la carte menu runs from lunch through dinner, and a click-and-collect service lets guests enjoy the food at home or by the harbour. A dedicated vegetarian and vegan menu, plus gluten- and dairy-free options, ensures the Mediterranean-inspired cooking is accessible to many.
The setting is relaxed and family-friendly, with outdoor seating for warmer days and air conditioning inside. Caffè Rojano is open daily from breakfast through to the evening, making it a consistent presence in Padstow’s dining scene.
